Resort Style – What Design Elements Help Guestrooms Appeal to Family Members of All Ages

Traveling as a family can be an exciting adventure filled with memorable moments. Upon arrival at the hotel, parents naturally desire a spacious room that's ready for them. Thankfully, many resorts are increasingly recognizing the needs of families and are offering rooms designed with various elements to ensure a comfortable and smooth stay. Let's explore some of these innovative design features that are becoming more prevalent.

Sliding Doors

Many families have to go through the trouble of getting more than one room or a big sweet with multiple rooms. A design element that appeals to many families is the addition of sliding doors. Sliding doors are perfect. When opened they make the entire room feel bigger, allowing more room for parents to watch kids play. Closed, the doors provide a more private yet sense of security because the parents are feet away. Sometimes, sliding doors made of translucent glass, can make both the children and adults feel more comfortable in the room.

 Family Room

Most family-style rooms will have a family room area. This can include a couch, television, dining table, coffee table, etc. The best family rooms will have a quality TV that can help hold the attention of the young ones. Having the ability to dine together is also appealing to all ages. Dining tables, big or small, are perfect for bringing the family together and “regrouping” if you will. Sometimes there will be a speaker in this room that is able to connect to a phone in order to play music. Kids and adults love hanging out in the family room because it is the one place everyone can stay and/or leave when they want to!

Balcony Views

Another impactful design element has to be the balcony. This can either make the room more impressive or disappoint. First off, the balcony has to be safe and secure before letting any children out to check it out. This means no bars for little ones or even pets to slip through! The best balconies have glass-like material so that more light can be let in and the view is bigger. People love going to the window or the balcony to check out the view, it seems to be one of the first things that guests do when they enter the room. Great views and awesome patio seating can not only impress guests, it can get repeat customers! Who doesn’t love some great customer loyalty?

Traveling with a family is tough, so vacationing should not make it harder. Families are relying on hotels to make situations much fun and easier, at least when it comes to a place to sleep and entertain! Adding in these simple elements could make a vacation more enjoyable and might even get families to vacation at that hotel consistently.
