Guestroom Lighting – Bedside Lamp and Sconce Trends

Lighting in a room is the determining factor for the vibe a guest will get. If the light is too dim or too bright, guests will not feel comfortable in the room. Bedside lamps are always sought after because who wants to have to get up to turn the light off once they are already snuggled up in bed? No one, that’s who! These lamps have been a part of the hotel guestroom decor for many years due to the convenience factor alone. As more design trends pop up, hotels have been taking notes and have started using different bedside lamps and sconces in their guestrooms.

Hanging Out

This trend seems to be the newest out of the all beside lamp decor. Using a hanging lamp can get a bit tricky if it is not installed the right way. Making sure that both lamps on either side of the bed are the same length from the ceiling is huge when trying to put a room together. Also, if the lamps are to have a shade around the bulb, they must be a certain distance from the wall. If the lamps are too close to the wall, then the shades will be crowded and look unprofessional. Hanging lamps are mostly incorporated into restaurants and dining rooms, so using them in a bedroom setting is very trendy indeed.

Old School

Nothing beats tradition. The old school, stand up lamp is a classic addition to bedroom decor. Stand up table lamps are the most recognizable style of lamp, leaving guests feeling comfortable with the room. There is no confusion on how to turn it on or where the button is. Because there are so many options to choose from when it comes to both the lamp shade and stand, deciding on guestroom lighting can be a challenge. Choosing something simple, but fun will catch the eye of most hotel guests when they lay down for the night.

Sconce

Now that interior decorating in hotels has blasted off, sconces are trending like crazy. The installation is a little more intricate, but it seems the look is worth it. There are many different looks of scones as well. Some trends are the traditional lamp look, old england times, super modern reading lamps and more. In guestrooms, reading lamps are all the rage. Some guests do not want to have to turn all of the lights off because the other person in the room wants to sleep. The reading sconce is perfect because it does not emit too much light, but just enough for one person to read a book.

Be on the lookout for these types of lamps throughout different hotels. Many will use these bedside lamp trends to go along with certain brand guidelines. This means be aware of hotel colors, certain shapes and a plethora of different metal types will be used. Make sure you notice and appreciate a hotel’s effort to make you , the guest, as comfortable as possible.
