The Future of Guestroom Bedding: Styles, Fabrics & Fabrications Trending
Guestroom bedding is always changing and evolving, so keeping up with the trends can be a bit hectic. However, some simple and classic styles will never change. Bedding can either help a room come together or hurt the process. Hotels are usually on top of their game in this department seeing that the bed is the place that guests spend most of their time! Here are a few trends that will be seen this year, so be on the lookout!
Duvets
Duvets are the absolute best thing invented in the bedding world. They make it possible to buy any type of comforter desired and change out the duvet cover with any design desired. It is genius! Many hotels have started doing this because it is much easier to clean a duvet and they are able to do it more often. Pintuck is a simplistic, yet dreamy style of duvet that brings a sense of texture to a bed without creating a crowded feel when paired with the throw pillows, sheets, etc.
Bold colors
Pantone’s Color of the Year is Ultra-Violet, so if a purple palette is in the brand book, then go crazy! Otherwise, pair a brand color or two with a neutral color such as white or tan to make those brand colors pop. As shown above, the aqua teal color is well balanced with a white and slate color palette. Try to keep it bold but simple and intriguing, using too many colors can become abrasive and guests might feel overwhelmed.
Patterns
Mix and match patterns with the comforter and the throw pillows. Choose contrasting patterns such as polka dots and stripes, grids and thick lines, florals and chevron. The options are limitless. Sometimes you can even pair different animal designs like zebra and giraffe patterns. Yes, a little risqué, but sometimes taking a risk is well worth the appreciation of the guests. Keep in mind, when using different patterns, the colors have to match. We cannot get caught up in just throwing patterns out there without any thought about branding, right?
Contemporary Lines
With lines, it is hard to go wrong. It is simple and it adds a little “umph” to the room. Solids are great, but lines help develop that brand awareness hotels are aiming to accomplish. Incorporate the lines from the hotel logo or just the colors and create a new design just for the guestrooms. Customers and guests learn to notice and love those little details and sometimes recommend the hotel based on intricate accents such as bedding design. Keeping it contemporary also creates a high-class feel!
Bedding is a huge part of the hotel guest experience and without quality and comfortable options, hotels would most likely go out of business. Like we said, guests spend most of their time in the bed, so why not make it spectacular? From patterns, to colors, to comforter covers and more, bedding will always be important, so treat it as a comfy commodity!
